La Roca is a family oriented Mexican restaurant. The location boasts plenty of seating, but limited street parking surrounding the area of the restaurant. 

 

Prices range from $8 to $17 with a very extensive menu. 

 

La Roca is open from 11:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. daily. It also offers free delivery.​

Alma, the owner, an Olean resident, heard from a friend that the past owner was selling his business, then known as La Cocina. The two met and they discussed the possibility of Alma taking over the restaurant. 

 

In November of 2016, she used her life savings to purchase the restaurant.

She saw her friends around her in need for more work and she jumped on the opportunity to help her community. 

​

Alma says even though the business fluctuates she always stays positive. She reminds herself she purchased the business to create jobs for hers and her friends.

The restaruant offers coloring pages for children, chalk to write on the walls and baby toys to keep kids entertained during dinner.

To help the customers learn the dishes, La Roca's owner often supplies free samples for them to taste.

She says even though her favorite dish is the souply, but all of the dishes they serve are good. 

​

"We have good food and we have good peoples who work hard," says Alma. The staff speaks both English and Spanish.

Alma says her favorite thing about the area is Allegany State Park. Coming from New York City in 2014, she was searching for peace. She was happy to find Olean and Allegany and is thankful for the people she has met and the opportunities she has had since moving.
